On Saturday, September 11th my team, SupercalifragilisticexpialSclerosis, and I will be participating in the Twin Cities MS Mud Run. We’ll be trudging through 6 miles of mud and obstacles in hopes to get closer to a cure for multiple sclerosis. Each member of my team has an individual fundraising goal (mine is $300) to help reach the event’s overall goal of $100,000.00. Consider a donation to end multiple sclerosis and support me during the MS Mud Run 2010!
MS stops people from moving. The National MS Society exists to make sure it doesn’t. Please help by making a donation — large or small — to move closer to a cure for MS. Seriously, no contribution is too small. Good old-fashioned encouragement is always welcome, too!
Whatever you can give will help. I greatly appreciate your support and will keep you posted on my progress.

Originating in DC, the 48 Film Project was started back in 2001. Filmmaking teams throughout the Minneapolis area (and the world) spend a wild, sleepless weekend once a year to make a short film from start to finish in a mere 48 hours. Teams are given a character, a prop, a line of dialogue, and a genre on Friday night. Writers frantically scribble down their brilliance over copious amounts of coffee only to pass off their scripts to their team’s production crew (sometimes those same writers pulling double duty) first thing Saturday morning. Teams pull in their actors and film their masterpieces all day Saturday, leaving only Saturday night and Sunday day for editing. Completed films are due Sunday evening. What a whirlwind!
This year, I was lucky enough to be asked by Matthew Glover and Sam Landman of Pommelhorse Productions to be a part of their 48 Hour Film project. This year’s required elements were: Paul or Paula Williams Chef/Cook, a pliers, “What do you want to know?”, and our genre was comedy. Hope you enjoy our little ditty!

Don’t look now, but I think we’re being watched…
While this lake creature looks similar to the fabled Loch Ness Monster, it is actually Minne the Lake Creature care of the Minneapolis Parks Foundation and artist Cameron Gainer. Gainer joined with MPF to share a passion for the arts and belief that public works of art can truly enrich a community and the lives of its residents.
Everyone in the community is encouraged to engage in the fun and mystery of Minne as she makes her journey from lake to lake throughout Minneapolis. The young lake creature, newly parted from her parents’ nest, will have adventure after adventure as she searches for the perfect place to make a home of her own.
Minne currently resides on the east side of Lake Harriet. Come by and say hello or watch for her to appear in a lake near you!

Saturday, June 5th was a rainy afternoon, but still so inviting for a walk around Lake Harriet. Armed with my wellies and trusty umbrella, I set out on a quiet stroll. My soft steps paid off as I was able to get close to some geese and their new families. Guess I’m not the only one who likes to go for a walk in the rain!

Strike Anywhere: a theatrical production company, comprised of actors Sigrid Sutter and Jen Rand in collaboration with director and founder of MN Shakespeare Project Diane Mountford, presents Deviates From The Master Plan and Apprentice & Sorcerer Trip On The Light Fantastick for the 2010 MN Fringe Festival.
Writer Brian Howrey, Artistic Director of the National Theater of Elsewhere, weaves two whimsical stories with the highly physical comedies.
In Deviates from the Master Plan, a mermaid and her chambermaid have a system for stealing water from a defensive woodland nymph, until the Man in Large Pants throws a wrench into the works. Apprentice and Sorcerer Trip the Light Fantastick (a world premiere) follows a day in the life of the local sorcery shop, complete with reanimated corpses, a plague of frogs and the music of the spheres.
