Don’t look now, but I think we’re being watched…
While this lake creature looks similar to the fabled Loch Ness Monster, it is actually Minne the Lake Creature care of the Minneapolis Parks Foundation and artist Cameron Gainer. Gainer joined with MPF to share a passion for the arts and belief that public works of art can truly enrich a community and the lives of its residents.
Everyone in the community is encouraged to engage in the fun and mystery of Minne as she makes her journey from lake to lake throughout Minneapolis. The young lake creature, newly parted from her parents’ nest, will have adventure after adventure as she searches for the perfect place to make a home of her own.
Minne currently resides on the east side of Lake Harriet. Come by and say hello or watch for her to appear in a lake near you!

Saturday, June 5th was a rainy afternoon, but still so inviting for a walk around Lake Harriet. Armed with my wellies and trusty umbrella, I set out on a quiet stroll. My soft steps paid off as I was able to get close to some geese and their new families. Guess I’m not the only one who likes to go for a walk in the rain!
